Overview

Overview

With the new project-management tool Taiga, the project department gets a central, visual overview of every ongoing fibre-rollout project. The goal: keep the status of each build transparent at all times, assign responsibilities clearly and improve teamwork. This project also serves as a template for structuring rollout projects Kanban-style and forms the basis for a standardised project overview.

Tasks & implementation

Set up the initial structure in Taiga

  • Created the project "Fibre rollout projects — overview"
  • Configured a Kanban board with meaningful status columns

Defined the board columns (workflow)

  • Planned
  • Approvals pending
  • Civil works in preparation
  • Civil works in progress
  • Technical rollout
  • Activating home connections
  • Acceptance / documentation
  • Completed
  • Issue / blocked

Added projects as entries

  • Each build area (e.g. town, district) as its own user story or task
  • Fields: description, responsible person, labels (area, build phase, time window)

Introduced labels and priorities

  • e.g. #Q2, #FTTH, #CivilWorks, #AwaitingApproval

Documentation & enablement

  • Status descriptions and a usage guide for project leads on a Taiga wiki page
  • Trained all team members

Result

  • A unified Kanban board to steer and monitor all fibre projects
  • Transparent progress per build area
  • A single point of contact for the project department to check status
  • Better team communication through clear ownership and up-to-date information

Platforms & tools

  • Taiga (self-hosted) — project management and Kanban
  • Labels / tags — for filtering and grouping
  • Taiga wiki module — internal documentation

Highlights

  • Self-hosted Taiga Kanban board with a 9-stage rollout workflow
  • Reusable template for structuring fibre build projects
  • Transparent, real-time status per build area with clear ownership
  • Central overview with labels, priorities and a documentation wiki
